Are You Taking Advantage of Your Medicare Benefits?
I recently made the decision to have knee replacement surgery, and have been recovering for the past 4 weeks. I’m so grateful for my medical providers, and am feeling better every day.
From surgery to durable medical equipment needs to outpatient therapy, I’m also grateful for my Medicare coverage and Hospital Indemnity plan.
If you have any questions about what coverage is available for your medical needs, I’m always happy to help.
Thank you for trusting me to help you. I’m so glad to have you here with me.

Durable Medical Equipment
Did you know that Medicare Part B covers medically necessary durable medical equipment (DME) if your health care provider prescribes it for use in your home?
DME includes equipment that is expected to last at least three years, like blood sugar meters and test strips, canes, commode chairs, CPAP machines, crutches, hospital beds, nebulizers and nebulizer medications, oxygen equipment and accessories, walkers, wheelchairs and scooters, and more.
After you meet the Part B deductible you pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount. Medicare pays for different kinds of DME in different ways. Depending on the type of equipment, this can include equipment rental, equipment purchase, or the option to choose your preference.

Bone Mass Measurement Test
Don’t wait for a bone to break – get tested for osteoporosis. Talk with your doctor about whether a bone mass measurement test is right for you. This test can help prevent or detect osteoporosis at an early stage, when treatment works best.
Medicare Part B covers a bone mass measurement once every 24 months (more often if medically necessary) — at no cost to you when your doctor orders it.
Here are a few tips to prevent weakened bones and keep bones strong:
• Eat foods that support bone health. Get enough calcium, vitamin D, and protein each day.
• Get active. Choose weight-bearing exercises, such as strength training, walking, hiking, jogging, climbing stairs, tennis, and dancing.
• Don’t smoke. Smoking increases your risk of weakened bones. If you do smoke, consider quitting.
If you have any questions about your Medicare coverage, I’m always happy to help.
